Research is producing an increasing amount of data. They are usually discipline specific and exist in various forms. Thereby, they can be the basis for and/or the result of research. This makes storing, managing and curating research data a central task for any researcher and research institute - from preparing a research application to day-to-day research work. This process must be structured and organized. Data management plans (DMP) have continuously proven to be a viable solution for this. They can primarily be understood as an abstract concept that helps to define the data management for the course of the research project and the subsequent long-term availability.

For this, a DMP structures the handling of research data even for after its life cycle. Here, insights regarding necessary or generated data sets, together with their licensing, enrichment with meta data, necessary processing steps and processing software or the ownership over time are tackled. The objective of the event is to tackle the various questions surrounding data management and to enable the participants to create their own plan.

  • introduction to research data mangement
  • presentation of the individual elements of a data management plan: collecting project meta data, description of the data or the data inventory, respectively, data management, consolidation and archiving, exchange and standardization
  • establishing and designing a data management plan
  • digital data management in the research application
  • presentation of online tools and example DMPs (BMBF, DFG)
  • institutional support

Registration is done through the state project BioDATEN for the bioinformatic community
